What’s On in Cornwall in September

Cornwall’s entertainment calendar is busy year round but September is full of exciting things to see and do when you stay with us here at Trevornick. We’ve rounded up some events that are not to be missed in September!

Crantock Bale Push 

Friday 9 September 

A village tradition that stretches back generations, this event in the village of Crantock is exactly what it sounds like. Teams compete to push a bale of hay around the centre of the village and the competition can get quite heated! With the children’s teams kicking off the event the whole family can get involved with this tradition. The starting line takes place between Crantock’s two pubs so expect lots of Cornish ale and cider! 

 

Watergate Bay Sprint 

Saturday 17 September – Sunday 18 September 

Engine lovers will relish this unique closed road challenge that sees experienced and eager motorists race up the windy Watergate Hill reaching impressive speeds. The beautiful views across Watergate Bay might be a distraction from the race though. 

 

St Ives September Festival  

Saturday 10 September – Saturday 24 September  

St Ives is a must see destination, however it can get a little busy in the summer months. This festival takes place once the rush of the season has calmed and is a celebration of art, music and culture. The seaside town has long had a connection with artists and the Tate Museum and Barbara Hepworth House and Gardens are two must see locations for art lovers. There’s lots of creative activities the little ones can get involved with too. 

 

North Cornwall Book Festival  

Thursday 23 September – Monday 26 September  

Between Polzeath and Port Isaac this literary line up is a wonderful weekend event for bookworms. The festival brings together readers, writers and musicians in a beautiful location and offers literature, crafts and workshops.  

 

Heligan’s Lost Supper  

Friday 30 September  

Promoting the importance of our connection with soil, growers and food The Lost Gardens of Heligan Lost Supper is a foodies delight. Dine in the Kitchen Garden Conservatory on a menu that is ingredient led using food grown in the gardens.
