Cosy Cornish pubs to visit this Winter!
Winter is the perfect time to find a cosy pub and enjoy a pint of the local ale or a tasty meal in front of a roaring log fire and we’ve pulled together a list of our favourites. Feel free to tell us about your favourites too!
The Fox’s Revenge
Handily located just off the A30 near Summercourt, just a 10-minute drive from our campsite in Cornwall, this pub is well known for it’s delicious Sunday Roasts. Serving afternoon teas, as well as daily changing specials including treats such as Ham Hock Terrine or Fox’s Steak and Ale Pie. There’s a tasty kids menu and dogs are welcome.
The Gurnard’s Head
Worth the drive to the beautiful coastline between St Ives and St Just in West Cornwall. Head Chef Max Wilson provides a tempting menu of locally sourced, seasonal dishes which take comfort food to another level. Also a dog-friendly pub!
The Old Inn
Known as the highest pub in Cornwall, it nestles in the tiny village of St Breward on Bodmin Moor. It is packed with character from the slate floors to the huge open fireplaces. Regular themed food nights and popular Sunday carveries make it the place to visit if you are in the area. And like most places in Cornwall, it’s dog-friendly.
The Pandora Inn
Although it’s perfect for lazy summer days by the river, this 13th-century pub comes alive in the Winter. A charming thatched inn with low-beamed ceilings and stunning views over Restronguet Creek. Food is served all day and dogs and wellies are welcome.
The Springer Spaniel
As the name indicates this dog-friendly pub is not just a bustling local spot but popular with visitors to Cornwall and Devon. Rustic in style, it offers pub classics alongside tapas and modern dishes and has plenty of nooks to hide away in with a good book.
