Autumn Adventures for the Family

Beaches are spacious and queues are non-existent. Cornwall is yours to explore with its stunning sunsets, idyllic destinations, and award-winning attractions.

Your fully-equipped home-from-home here at Trevornick is ideally suited whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure or cosy nights in.

Here’s our pick of favourite autumnal family focused things to do while staying with us:

Beach days

Explore Holywell Bay Beach, without the crowds, have a go at body-boarding (wetsuits can be hired) or simply enjoy the stunning views over the Gull Rocks. Stay for a spectacular sunset, soaking in the last of the day before heading back to camp for cosy clothes and hot chocolates.

Coastal path walks

Our Cornwall holiday park is perfectly positioned to enjoy Cornwall’s extensive network of coastal paths. See our reception team for a local map and advice on the best routes for you. Don’t forget, dogs are welcome here at Trevornick, so make the most of our miles of golden sand and dramatic coastline, we’re happy to welcome back even the wettest and sandiest of canines – Tails wagging no doubt!

Halloweden at the Eden Project

With its magical mix of stunning biomes and amazing flora, The Eden Project is the ideal destinations for groups of all sizes and children and adults of all ages. Halloweden is a fortnight of magical activities over October half-term including a myths and legends trail, Halloween Monsters Ball and not-to-be-missed indoor ice skating.

Go horse riding on the beach

Perranporth beach, with its three-mile-long stretch of sand and beautiful sunrises and sunsets, is a dream spot up on the North Coast. Now you can make the most of this idyllic location with a two-hour horse-riding lesson, which is accessed along the extensive dunes above the beach. The stables have over 20 horses for all ages and cater for all abilities from beginners to advanced riders. You can end your ride with a drink at the famous Watering Hole, right on the beach.

Rainy day activities

Our morning kids club will give little ones the chance to get creative while mums and dads can catch up on their holiday reads. In the afternoon, why not head out together to explore indoor attractions such as Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium, Pirate’s Quest, or the Lighthouse Cinema, all in the heart of town with plenty of lunch spots close by. In the evening, head down for our evening entertainment on site, including everyone’s favourite karaoke.

Cosy Autumnal pubs

Cornwall has an abundance of family friendly pubs serving great food and drink with a very warm welcome; luckily for us, we have some favourites on our doorstep.

Head to the Bowgie Inn for some great sea views after a bracing walk over West Pentire Headland and Polly Joke beach, or head for a Sunday lunch at the 16th-century Smugglers Den Inn, with an original thatched roof, just a short drive away at Trebellan, near Cubert.

If you fancy venturing further afield, dog friendly The Fox’s Revenge is a 20-minute drive from Trevornick and does a great roast sharing platter. You need to be hungry as the portions are generous as well as delicious!

Fish dishes

Don’t miss out on eating some fantastic fresh fish dishes whilst in Newquay, from Rick Stein’s fish & chips at the famous Fistral Beach to The Fish House (who have an inspired children’s menu) and Harbour Fish & Grill – there’s something for all tastes and appetites to enjoy!

Garden strolls

If you’d like to experience the full beauty of autumn colours, there are a whole host of gorgeous gardens to discover. Nearby sites include the beautiful Japanese Gardens at St Mawgan, just a few miles from Newquay, or take a short drive to Trebah or Trengwainton for some amazing autumn colour. Why not let the little ones pick their favourite leaves and get creative with paints when you get back to camp?
